An Intimate Wedding in Nevis

This week has been one of those weeks when we are reminded just how much we love love and weddings. We have been working with the sweetest couple to create an intimate destination wedding experience for them and their guests. We are beyond excited that the week is finally here! A small intimate destination wedding {less then 50 guests} at the gorgeous Four Seasons Resort in Nevis. Steve and Kelly wanted a wedding to remember with their nearest and dearest and we hope that with the creative ideas and special touches we have created for them, it will certainly be a dream day to remember for the two of them.

The past few days we snapped a couple photos we couldn't wait to share! Mount Nevis, the backdrop of the wedding is beyond beautiful on the island.

The welcome bags we put together with customized chevron stripe print tags were such a delight to create and will be such a welcoming gift to guests.

How do you like our PLANNING COMPANY CARTS? Fun stylish golf carts to cruise around the resort throughout the week. We may want to take one back with us, maybe? ;)

We can not wait to share the other lovely wedding photos with you that Bee Photographie is going to capture. Laurie shot the bride and groom so beautifully for their engagement session, we can not wait to see the wedding photos.

A small wedding is a reminder that it doesn't matter how big or lavish, a wedding is full of love and happiness and we are delighted that Kelly and Steve have us here to create their wedding to remember!

Engagement Session: Taylor & Lee with Thompson Photography

We were so excited when our friend and one of our favorite photographers Cassidy with Thompson Photography asked us to help her style an engagement session over the Summer. When we met Taylor and Lee we could tell that the shoot was going to be filled with dreamy images after an afternoon spent with them on their friends gorgeous farm. As wedding planners who work with couples planning their big day on a daily basis, we are often asked the question if engagement sessions with your photographer are necessary. We hope that after you read the bride's comments below, you will not think twice and add the session on to your planning! An engagement session is the perfect time to spend some time together as a couple in front of the camera before your wedding day. You are able to feel more relaxed and comfortable with your photographer being around during your wedding.

From the Bride Taylor, "It was so much fun to work with our photographers before our wedding. We could tell they were excited to do this shoot because it was a little outside the box. We got to be creative and utilize so many talented people like The Planning Company to set the props and mood that Lee and I were hoping for! All the elem
ents came together and we now have pictures that are, just like the car, timeless! I would definitely suggest this to other couples! Having this engagement photo session allowed us to trust our photographers. We felt comfortable with the up-coming wedding pictures knowing we were all on the same page and how they worked!".

The groom, Lee, had always had an infatuation with cars, this vintage Mercedes in particular. One of the brides customers from her cafe, Taylor Made Cafe, knew how much Lee adored it and set up a driver to bring the car to the barn so they could use it for the shoot. Both the bride and groom are drawn to older, timeless, classic pieces so this one of a kind car was the perfect touch to add to their shoot.

Taylor was dressed in a stunning red Badgley Mischka dress during the shoot. When you are planning your engagement session, we highly recommend to have a few different outfits put together. Taylor had three different dresses for the day; the red elegant flowing gown, the casual white lace dress and boots and a long white dress that she wore in the barn. You want your engagement photos to be a reflection of you as a couple, dressed up or down or even styled as your dream date.

There are so many amazing locations in Florida to have your engagement session taken; the beach, historic hotels, beautiful homes, golf courses, the list is endless. Choose a location that has meaning to you as a couple; the first place you went on a date, your home, the location you got engaged, your favorite spot for a Sunday afternoon. Taylor rode horses competitively as a child and Lee worked in the horse show circuit for years, so the barn was an ideal setting for photos of them as the soon to be Mrs. & Mr. to take place.

The bike was a last minute addition we added to the shoot and we have to say, the photos are adorable! These two photos below with their dog are too cute!

We would love to help you with your engagement session! Unsure of where to take your photos, looking for a unique theme to tie together your interests as a couple? Let us know.

Erica and Michael

Erica and Michael are as sweet as can be and their wedding day was just as great. After our initial meeting at The Brazilian Court, they headed back home to New York and we planned the rest of their wedding over e-mail! Ohhh the power of the Internet!

When the big day arrived, everything fell into place beautifully. Guests had their photos taken by our photography team as they entered the ceremony. Moments later Erica walked down the aisle to Billy Joel’s “She’s got a Way” and guests enjoyed their sweet ceremony as the sun began to set in the North Courtyard.

Shortly thereafter, cocktails began and guests enjoyed the sounds of laughter, acoustic guitar and the trickling courtyard fountain. A mouth-watering dinner was served an hour later and then the ENTIRE room hit the dance floor.

Hours later, guests sauntered back to their hotel suites with their parting favors, a framed copy of their pre-ceremony photos. Everyone left with happy hearts, sore dancing feet and bellies full of CafĂ© Boulud’s scrumptious meal and to-die-for gluten free wedding cake.

Many thanks to Erica’s lovely step-mom, Kella, who became more than a mother of the bride, but also our good friend throughout the planning process. Another thanks to Tom Tracy for capturing the beautiful moments from this day!

Much Love,

Kristen

Axel's 70th Birthday Party

Hannah came to us with a next to impossible task. She asked us to plan a surprise party at her house for her husband’s 70th birthday. Thankfully, her husband, Axel, travels quite a bit and we were able to plan our stealthy meetings with Hannah in-between his trips abroad.

Hannah’s vision for her property included a peak top tent, dressed with flowing white fabric and dripping crystal chandeliers. Our team brought in modern white furniture and mirrored accents to give the backyard a fresh, South Beach feel.

Guests were greeted at the front door by a cigarette girl model and headed to the back of the house in preparation for the birthday boy’s big surprise. Axel’s face was priceless when he walked through the door and saw 40 of his closest friends and family members, many of whom had traveled halfway across the globe for the celebration.

Hand in hand, Axel and Hannah ended the night with a dance to Frank Sinatra’s “You Make Me Feel So Young” as a slideshow played in the background of Axel’s childhood photos.

A great time was had by all and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 70 years of life!

The Planning Company on Style Me Pretty!

I loved planning my own wedding. So much so that a few months after the big day, I still found myself perusing wedding magazines and blogs. This is how I stumbled upon “Style Me Pretty”, one of the most inspiring and delightful blogs in the wedding industry. After starting my job with The Planning Company, I boldly announced to everyone in our office that it was my absolute #1 goal to get one of our upcoming weddings published on Style Me Pretty.

Enter Joy, one of our beautiful brides, and her equally fabulous mother Grace. Both women had a stunning vision for Joy’s wedding to her handsome fiancĂ©, Oliver, and every stylish detail was discussed in great length. After our initial meeting, I thought to myself that this wedding could be THE ONE to help me reach my goal!

Needless to say Joy and Oliver’s vision came to life and their wedding day was beautiful. And wouldn’t you know, a few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from Joy’s photographer (Pezz Photo) that their big day had been selected to be featured in the Florida section of Style Me Pretty ! Oh happy day!

But that’s enough from me. Check out the blog post for yourself to read more about Joy and Oliver’s stunning celebration. Off to set my next goal, maybe I'll shoot for a spread in Martha Stewart Weddings? We’ll see!

Much Love,

Kristen
